Cavity wall insulation is used to reduce heat loss through a cavity wall by filling the air space with a porous material. This immobilises the air within the cavity (air is still the actual insulator), preventing convection, and can substantially reduce space heating costs.
“What is the insulation made of? “
Cavity wall insulation can be made out of three types of materials:
All three are manufactured according to British standards. Foam Insulation systems should be certified by the British Board of Agrément and installed according to strict guidance laid out in the associated BBA Certificates.
Most houses built in or after the 1930’s have cavity walls. There are still 6.3 million homes in the UK which need cavity wall insulation. Subject to a survey, we are able to offer free Cavity wall insulation which will typically save up to £135 a year on your home’s fuel bills. Please call us on 01179 522 522 to find out more.
